Matthijs de Ligt's agent, Mino Raiola, reportedly wants his client to snub a potential move to Barcelona and instead seal a summer deal with Manchester United.
Barcelona have been tipped as clear favorites to land the services of the centre-back but his agent is pushing him to join United.
The Premier League giants are set to undertake a major squad overhaul in the summer after enduring a disastrous campaign and have now identified De Ligt to enhance their defensive line.
United are banking on their close business relationship with Raiola to land the services of the Ajax centre-back.
However, according to a UK Metro report, De Ligt has his eyes set on joining Barcelona, with the hope of linking up with teammate, Frenkie de Jong, who will join La Liga giants at the end of the season.
On his part, Ajax youth coach Ronald de Boer is of the opinion the youngster joins a side focused on attacking football.

"For De Ligt, it’s up to him what he wants to do. He has to look for a team that plays attacking football and has time on the ball," De Boer told TalkSport.
"For me [he can go to] Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, these teams I would advise him to go there," he added.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 0-1 defeat against Ajax in a tough Champions League semi-final first leg clash on Tuesday, April 30, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The encounter saw Tottenham Hotspur without the services of star forward Son Heung-min, who was suspended for clash while the trio of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen were in the starting XI against their former employers.
The Dutch giants after seeing off the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus in previous rounds, were in the front foot out after 15 minutes through Donny Van de Beek, who netted the opener from close-range.
