Barcelona vs Liverpool: 4 reasons why Reds could beat Barca at Camp Nou

Barcelona vs Liverpool will take centre stage on Wednesday, May 1, as the Champions League has gotten to another critical stage where there will only be two teams left to contend for the title if they make it past the semi finals.

Barcelona stand in the way of Liverpool in qualifying for their second consecutive final and many believe it will take an extra-ordinary stroke of luck for the Reds to progress.

It even becomes more difficult for Jurgen Klopp's side as Lionel Messi has been in menacing form, hurting teams across all competitions this season.

But anything is possible in football and with the quality Liverpool have, they should be able to grind a result at the expense of the Catalan giants.

Here are four reasons why Liverpool can defeat Barcelona at Camp Nou

1. Liverpool can cover up spaces in the midfield and this can destabilize Barca

It is not knew to many how Barcelona play their game. The Spanish side play more of possessive football mostly centered in the midfield.

Klopp is good at devising formations that can choke key areas in the midfield and it would at least unsettle the star-studded Barcelona.

2. Liverpool can hit Barcelona on the counter

As much as every team would like to stop Barcelona at their backyard by defending, it is a duty for the club to also attack.

Holding off Barca without attacking might cost any team but with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane's pace, Ernesto Valverde's men can concede at any given point in time.

3. Liverpool are good at showing character

Mental awareness and maximum concentration from the blast of whistle are ingredients a team must have to defeat Barcelona

Liverpool have that but they must avoid playing with emotions because they can get unnecessarily booked which could result into a sending off.

With the attractive style of football Barca plays, oppositions usually get carried away by making hard tackles that might cost them losing a man to a red card.

4. Barcelona have Lionel Messi but Liverpool have Van Dijk

Stopping Messi will be a problem for the Premier League best player this season Virgil Van Dijk.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker should also be ready to be at his best making a couple of outstanding saves and a little bit of luck with Messi's shots not hitting the target as well as some balls striking the post.

That will frustrate the La Liga champions and give Liverpool the confidence to edge their opponents.
