Some Boko Haram members have reportedly invaded a base occupied by Nigerian soldiers in Mararrabar Kimba, some kilometres from Maiduguri, capital of Borno state.
Premium Times confirms that five soldiers were killed in the attack while some are still missing after they retracted during the gun duel.
The report quoted military sources as confirming the attack on the Nigerian Army 254 Task Force Battalion under the 25 Task Force Brigade saying it happened on April 26.
It also said some of the injured victims in the attack were being medically attended to.
The report said the number of those who had not returned after the clash could not be ascertained.
It quoted a military officer as saying the troops put on heavy resistance before some tactically retracted.
The report said the spokespersons of the Nigerian Army and Defence Headquarters did not answer telephone calls for clarification.
