Man City and Liverpool target £54m-rated Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze

Title-chasing Manchester City and Liverpool are keeping close tabs on £54m-rated Super Eagles and Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.

According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League pair are set to battle for the 19-year-old, who they have identified as a possible signing this summer after following his progress over the past 12 months.

Interestingly, the former Golden Eaglets ace, who is known for his pace and skillful prefers to start on the right wing and cut in to shoot with his favourite left foot.

Already, Chukwueze has been likened to his idol Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben in style and was recently named Nigeria Football Federation's 2018 Young Player of the year.

In addition, other clubs that include Arsenal, Leicester City and Atletico Madrid have been monitoring the youngster since the start of the campaign, but his fast development has attracted attention from City and Liverpool.

Chukwueze has netted eight times this season and Villarreal has reportedly placed a £54m buy-out clause, but are likely to welcome a lower amount up front with guaranteed bonuses.

The report added that Liverpool and City are seeking top quality for their wide forward positions and have considered different players both at home and abroad.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Samuel Chukwueze was on target for his La Liga club Villarreal as he scored the only goal in their win against Girona.

The Super Eagles winger went through the Girona defence with a pass from Pablo Fornals and having only the keeper to beat, he picked his spot to score a wonderful goal.

Chukwueze's seventh minute strike turned out to be the only goal of the match as the Yellow Submarines moved two points out of the relegation zone.
