4 main questions of the Champions League semi-finals

The Champions League has reached its penultimate stage as four teams are vying for the most coveted trophy in club football.

Barcelona will welcome Liverpool to the Camp Nou in an anticipated semi final clash as Tottenham will slug it out with Ajax at the new White Hart lane.

Many questions are being asked on who will emerge champions in the 2018-19 season as the elite competition look to produce a new winner after Real Madrid dominated in the last three seasons.

These are four possible questions that will be asked as the Champions League enters the semi finals

1. Will Lionel Messi finally win the Champions League since Cristiano Ronaldo is out of the way

Barcelona are favourites to lift the trophy this season following their remarkable display of football brilliance.

Many had been looking up for a Juventus versus Barcelona semi final clash which would renew the Messi/Ronaldo rivalry.

But with Juventus failing to progress beyond the quarter final stage, it is understood that now is the chance for Messi and Barca to clinch the title.

2. Will Liverpool make it into back-to-back Champions League finals?

The Merseyside club have continued from where they stopped last season as they are looking to erase the memory of the defeat to Real Madrid in the finals in Kiev.

But Jurgen Klopp's side face a hard task in going past the Spanish giants Barcelona, who have been deemed favourites to win the tournament.

Liverpool this season are chasing the Champions League and the Premier League titles respectively which might go their way or end up losing both trophies.

3. Will Ajax win the Champions League after upsetting Juventus and Real Madrid?

The last time Ajax tasted victory in the elite competition was in the 1994-95 season where the golden generation ruled Europe.

And 24 years later, the youthful side are looking to repeat history after knocking elite teams including Juventus and Real Madrid in the round of 16 and the quarter finals respectively.

Many believe that the Amsterdam giants will get the better of a less stronger team like Tottenham in the last four.
