Neymar could be handed an eight-year ban for allegedly punching a Rennes supporter and Paris Saint-Germain have insisted they will stand by him.
The Brazilian international appeared to have attacked a fan after the French Cup defeat at Stade des Frances.
It is understood that a rival fans told Neymar to "learn how to play football" while going to collect his runners-up medal.
The 27-year-old appeared to take have taken a swipe at the fan - with the French football commission set to meet this week to discuss his punishment.
Neymar could be slapped with a hefty ban that could run well into next season under French rules.
Reports have it that Neymar could at least get a five-match ban for acting "after the match", "against a player, coach, trainer, official or a member of the public."
But, if found guilty to have committed "brutality not causing injury or resulting in an injury found by medical certificate to not cause a temporary incapacity for work", his ban would be extended to eight matches.

In this instance, his violent conduct could fall under the "any violent action by a player, damaging the physical integrity of the person who is the victim" rule.
Despite the recent crisis, PSG officials have firmly claimed they will stand by Neymar.
Neymar's indecent behavior came after the penalty shootout defeat in the French Cup final to Rennes.
The Parisiens lost 6-5 on penalties having initially given away a 2-0 lead as Rennes came back level and won in shoot-outs.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Brazilian football star Neymar appeared to have punched a Rennes' fan on Saturday, April 27, after Paris-Saint-Germain's shocking defeat in the French Cup final.
PSG were two goals up in the first half against Rennes, but they squandered the lead as Rennes came back into the game and won on penalties.
