ABU’s Garba emerges VC of the year 2018

- The management of the Education Monitor has announced Professor Ibrahim Garba as the best vice chancellor of 2018

- Garba was picked as the VC of the year after he secured a good point of 75% on the yardstick of positive impacts

- The new title would also be accompanied by an award plaque at a ceremony to be attended by education stakeholders in the country

Professor Ibrahim Garba, the vice chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has been picked as the VC of the year 2018.

He emerged the VC of the year because of his many achievement within the four years he was the administrator of the university, Daily Trust reports.

The news of his emergence was announced by the management of the Education Monitor newspaper in a statement by Sameer S. Yusuf, the newspaper’s administrative manager.

Yusuf also added that the nomination of Garba would also come with the presentation of a merit award plague in an event that would be attended by stakeholders in the country’s education sector.

“Our research unit which is saddled with this responsibility has conducted independent research and interviews with staff, students and members of institutions’ host communities on the positive impacts and general achievements of heads of some tertiary institutions across the country,” he said.

Yusuf also said that the VC became winner after he had secured a good point of 75% on the yardstick of positive impacts and A performance according to their traditional assessment. He mentioned that the assessment was for vice chancellors, rectors, and provost of public and private universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the vice chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu, has said that the school will accept all guidelines by the Nigeria Law School and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

When the VC was asked what the situation has been since the assent, he said the school is negotiations with the Law School so they can know the conditions for participation for their students.
