- An Abuja High Court has been asked to sack Ademola Adeleke as a lawmaker representing Osun West district
- In the petition, the claimants asked court to mandate Adeleke to refund his salaries and allowances as senator
- The suit was filed pursuant to section 65(2)(a) of the 1999 Constitution, and the judgment of Abuja High Court in April 2
A Federal High Court in Abuja was on Friday, April 27, asked to disqualify Ademola Adeleke as the senator representing Osun west senatorial district at the upper legislative chamber.
Akinwale Olaniyi and Akinjide Monsuru, in a petition filed before the court, prayed that the court should declare the senator unfit to represent the senatorial district and mandate him to refund all the salaries, emoluments and allowances he collected as a lawmaker, Channels TV reports.
Legit.ng gathers that the claimants' suit seeking for Adeleke's removal at the Abuja court was marked FHC/ABJ/CS/462/2019.
The suit was filed pursuant to section 65(2)(a) of the 1999 Constitution, and the judgment of a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Bwari, delivered on April 2, 2019.
Recall that in a court verdict on April 2, Justice Othman Musa had ruled that Adeleke failed to prove in court that he graduated from a secondary school as required by section 177 of the Nigerian Constitution.
The court also stressed that the certificate presented by the senator was fake, though a judgement by an Appeal Court overturned the verdict challenging Adeleke's certificate.
No date has been fixed for mention of the new case challenging Adeleke's eligibility and requesting his removal as senator.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Osun chapter of All Progressives Congress had reacted to the judgment of an Abuja High Court which disqualified Ademola Adeleke from contesting the state governorship election of 2018.
The party alleged that Adeleke presented a fake statement of result of the secondary school he attended and was currently under investigation for another NECO certificate forgery allegation.
