- The APC in the state agrees that it did not measure up to expectation in the recent general election

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Anambra, on Friday, sent a message to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to bother about the 2021 governorship election in the state.

According to the APC, if the parties decided to still produce candidates during the election, they should prepare for an epic political battle.

The leaders of the APC in the state stated these on Friday, April 26, at a victory party in Awka, the capital of Anambra saying the mistakes of the past would not be repeated.

The sitting governor of the state, Willie Obiano, is a member of APGA.

The Nation reports that at the presidential victory get together of the party organised by the Buhari Youth Organisation (BYO), led by its coordinator in the state, Hon Olisa Okamelu, the leaders including the former commissioner for information, Chief Charles Amilo, the south east youth leader of APC, Hon Olisaemeka Onyeka, and party leaders from Imo and Enugu states, said 2021 would not be easy for the APGA.

The acting chairman of the APC, Chief Basil Ejidike, said at the event that the party targets 2021 governorship to stamp its authority in Anambra.

The report said Ejidike apologised to party members who believe that the APC did notlive to its billing in the state during the previous elections.

According to him, it is getting to the time for the party to get it right.

“It will not be a problem again for us because we have identified some of the problems that held us back in the past.

“Our coming political summit in May in Anambra will usher in a new dawn. So, the ruling party in the state and others should be ready to face APC because it’s now or never,” he said.

Speaking at the event also, Okamelu noted that with the leadership of the party under Ejidike, the APC was as good as winning in 2021

He noted that there was an improvement during the presidential election unlike what happened before now.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano, on Wednesday, March 5, accused the PDP of burning and destroying public utilities in the state in 2002.

Obiano said the PDP plunged state into confusion due to its desperation for power which led to the destruction of government establishments in the state.
