Joshua Dariye, a Nigerian senator, who is presently serving a ten-year jail term in prison has co-sponsored a motion in the Senate.
Dariye who is a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Plateau Central was listed as a co-sponsor of a motion by Senator Shehu Sani entitled, "Senseless killing of a Briton and the abduction of three others in a Holiday Resort in Kaduna state by Armed Bandits”.
“More worried that due to the fact perpetrators of these heinous activities tend to be gaining more courage to perpetuate their dastardly acts without fear of confrontation due to their acclaimed superior firepower,” Shehu Sani said.
In his reaction to the motion, deputy Senate president Ike Ekweremadu said: “I rise to second this motion. Let me send my condolences to the families of the victims and all Nigerians living in fear. We need to declare a national state of emergency to enable the government put in place measures to end this problem.”
Also in supporting the motion, Senator Joshua Lidani said: “I lend my support to this motion. Nigeria is becoming a killing field and this will have an effect on investment and tourism. We need to do something drastic, something unusual that we have not done before. We need to mobilize the military to those areas and we should not be shy of asking for help.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, condemned the killing of British aid worker, Faye Mooney and her Nigerian colleague, Mathew Oguche in Kajuru Castle, a holiday resort in Kaduna state.
