Zinedine Zidane has insisted that Real Madrid are still the best team in La Liga despite Barcelona's recent dominance.

The current Los Blancos boss who got employed for his second spell, claimed that Madrid have been the more dominant side in the Spanish top-flight.

In a press conference before Real's midweek game against Getafe, the Frenchman reminded reporters that Madrid have won the league a record 33 times, an achievement Barcelona will not achieve anytime soon.

The 1998 World Cup winner won nine trophies in two years including - three Champions Leagues, two Club World Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, one La Liga title and one Spanish Super Cup during his first spell at the Santiago Bernebau.

Zidane also became the only manager in history to win the Champions League in three consecutive seasons after which he resigned.

There are 50 La Liga titles and 18 European trophies between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The Catalan giants are one win away from claiming their 26th La Liga title this season, which will make it their seventh in ten years and all have been inspired by their captain Lionel Messi.

But Zidane made it clear that despite Barca's recent dominance, Madrid are the biggest side in Spain.

"We[Real Madrid] have 33 titles, how many do Barcelona have? Lately they have been doing well and we must congratulate them, but throughout history Madrid have won many more titles. I am not saying this to defend myself. They have been better recently, but we need to change this dynamic".

He added that they have forgotten their slip-ups this season but will making next season's La Liga challenge their priority.

"La Liga is very important. It's the daily objective."

"It's going to be our first objective for the next season."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Paul Pogba's salary demands could unsettle big earners like Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos if Real Madrid sign him this summer.
