Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confessed fierce rivals Man City are the new kings of Manchester following Man United’s 0-2 defeat at Old Trafford.
According to UK Sun citing Sky Sports, the Red Devils are experiencing their worst campaign in the English top flight since 1962, after losing seven in their last nine matches across all competitions.
In addition, United have conceded 20 times, scoring just six goals- without netting from team play since April 2.
The defeat against City sees United’s UCL dreams fast disappearing by the minutes, with three points behind Chelsea in fourth spot, Solskjaer's side are certainly shifting to Europa League football next term.
Speaking in a brief interview on Sky Sports after the match, the 46-year-old Solskjaer, said: "We got a reaction, but we were beaten by a better team. But we had a go.
"We didn’t hit the target too many times but the work rate was there. We just wasn't good enough.
"There’s a difference in quality – that’s why they are top of the league. They’ve set the standard. Living in Manchester, we can’t be happy with that.
"That’s up to us to close the gap and eventually overtake them. That’s the challenge,” noted Solskjaer, who is looking forward to a strong finish from his side in the remaining three match of the campaign.
He added: "Having a time like this we must stick together, batten down the hatches and make sure we don’t do anything rash or stupid.
"We must stick together as a team and come back fighting."
