Breaking: President Buhari proceeds to UK for private visit

President Muhammadu Buhari has left for the United Kingdom for a private visit.

This was announced via a statement by Femi Adesina who is the special assistant to the president on media and publicity.

The president visited Borno state to commission some projects before his departure on Thursday, April 25.

According to the statement, President Buhari is expected to return to the country on May 5.

The statement reads: “Further to the official visit by President Muhammadu Buhari to Lagos Wednesday where he commissioned a number of projects executed by the State Government, the President is scheduled to depart for Maiduguri, the Borno State capital for another official visit Thursday.

“He is expected to commission developmental projects especially in the sectors of education, healthcare and roads. At the end of the visit, President Buhari will be proceeding to the United Kingdom on a private visit. He is expected to return to Nigeria on May 5, 2019.”

Legit.ng reported that President Buhari commended Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state for a satisfactory job performance, saying that the governor deserved to be praised for his contributions to the development of the state.

Buhari gave the commendation in his speech on Wednesday, April 24, after inaugurating the new Oshodi Transport Interchange; the Mass Transit Medium and High capacity public buses; and the reconstructed Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road by the Lagos state government.

The president also expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their support to his administration and the roles they played in ensuring his re-election for another four-year term in office.

”Your governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has performed satisfactorily and we should all commend him for his contributions to the growth and development of Lagos state.

”I want to once again thank all the people of Lagos state for their support for our government and our party. This is my second working visit to Lagos state within a span of one year. I was also here in February to solicit for your votes. I thank you for supporting me."
