A tragedy has occurred in Jigawa state after nineteen wedding guests reportedly lost their lives in a fatal road accident. The sad incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, April 23, after a bus lost control.
The nineteen wedding guests were said to have been returning from a ceremony in Bauchi state, when the accident occurred.
According to Channels TV, the bus they boarded lost control and burst into flames in Gwaram Sabuwa, a village around 100 kilometers from Jigawa state capital, Dutse. The front tyre of the bus had burst, causing it to stumble off the road.
It was gathered that the bus was carrying women and children who were returning from the wedding.
Abdul Jinjiri, the police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the accident and number of lives to AFP during an interview.

It was gathered that residents of Gwaram Sabuwa village who had witnessed the tragic accident had narrated the incident to authorities.
Road accidents in Nigeria are usually caused by reckless driving, speeding, poorly-maintained roads and vehicles.
