Updated: President Buhari arrives Lagos for 1 day work visit

President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos for his one-day official visit to the state.

The presidential jet touched down at the airport around 10:30 am at the presidential wing of the airport, Daily Trust reports.

Heavy security are around the airport as senior government officials, governors, among others were sighted.

Some of the dignitaries are Governors Akinwunmi Ambode (the host governor), Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti.

Others are deputy governor of Edo state Phillips Shuaib, Lagos governor-elect Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the deputy governor-elect, Femi Hamzat.

While in Lagos, the president is expected to commission the 10-lane Oshodi – Muritala Muhammed International Airport Road, the Oshodi Transport Interchange, the 820 Air-conditioned new buses, the 170-bed Mother and Child Hospital, among others.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Buhari on Wednesday, April 24, departed Abuja for Lagos to inaugurate some developmental projects executed by the Lagos state government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the president and members of his encourage departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at about 9.48am.

NAN reports that President Buhari, who is on one-day official visit to Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria, is expected back to Abuja immediately after the inauguration of the projects.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that several routes will be affected by Buhari's visit. The routes to be affected include: Mobolaji Bank-Anthony Way (coming from the Presidential wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport to LASUTH under-bridge); Kodesoh Road, Obafemi Awolowo Way Kudirat Abiola Way and Ikorodu Road (between the Ojota Intersection and Anthony Interchange).

Others are Oworonshoki-Apapa Expressway (between Anthony and Oshodi Transport Interchange), International Airport road through the Local Wing of the airport to Mobolaji Bank-Anthony Way and back to the Obafemi Awolowo Way.

"Roads highlighted above shall only be cordoned-off when necessary, Obafemi Awolowo Way and portions of Mobolaji Bank-Anthony shall be closed to traffic on three occasions within the specified period, as they are central to the president’s itinerary,’’ the statement said.
