King Turner, a close associate of former president Goodluck Jonathan, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over N240 million Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) contracts.
Turner was a former chairman of the Board of UBEC when the alleged N20 billion fraud was perpetrated.
The Nation reports that he was flown to Lagos from Abuja for another round of grilling in respect of a separate case.
“Turner is being detained because he needs to account for about N240 million. He has undergone interrogation in the last four days in connection with some contracts in UBEC.
“But this is the first stage of probe into UBEC activities. Turner will still spend more days in custody in view of other isolated allegations against him,” a source was quoted to have said.
