- The murder of former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh is still being investigated

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has disclosed why the security details attached to the late former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh are still in detention about five months after their arrest.
Daily Sun reports that the security details comprising personnel from the Nigerian Army and Navy have been transferred to their various service where they are being detained.
Badeh was with his full security escort when he was killed by gunmen along the old Abuja/Kaduna, prompting the military to arrest all of them.
Colonel Onyema Nwachuku, acting director defence information, said since it is a murder case which is a weighty issue, the suspects may have to remain in custody until investigations are concluded.
Nwachuku said: “The information I have is that finishing touches are being put on the investigation concerning those suspects.
“They are still in custody as we speak and once the investigations are concluded, reports would be made and forwarded to the appropriate authorities.”
Recall that Legit.ng reported that the Nigerian Air Force warned members of the public to deviate from spreading misinformation concerning the death of former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Alex Badeh.
The NAF specifically denied insinuations that adequate security was not provided for the deceased Air Chief Marshal.

A statement by the NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, on Thursday, December 20, read: “Some erroneous reports and comments in the media regarding the unfortunate incident that led to the death of former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, on 18 December 2018.
“Some of these reports erroneously state that the driver of the late former CDS, who was also shot during the incident, is dead. Other reports allege that adequate security was not provided for the deceased Air Chief Marshal.
“The NAF wishes to state categorically that nothing could be further from the truth. Firstly, all are please requested to note that the driver is alive and recuperating extremely well at one of our NAF Hospitals."
