- The London side had to rely on Christian Eriksen's late strike to cart away all the three points
- Spurs remain third on the standings with 70 points, three above fourth-placed Chelsea
Tottenham Hotspurs on Tuesday night, April 23, bounced back to winning ways after securing a 1-0 slim victory over relegation-threatened Brighton & Hove Albion.
Spurs were keen to cart away all the three points during the clash played at Tottenham Stadium to keep their hopes of a top four finish alive.
The hosts however laboured through the encounter as they found it difficult to break a stubborn Brighton side who are fighting for relegation survival.
The tie had a gloomy opening, but grew more lively in the closing minutes of the first half that finished in a barren draw.
Upon the resumption of the second half, both sides looked destined for an underwhelming draw in what could have been a decent result for Brighton.
However, Christian Eriksen netted a stunning strike from 30 yards just two minutes to stoppage time to gift Mauricio Pochettino's side a vital win after an assist from Dele Alli.
The London club remain third on the standings with 70 points, three above fourth-placed Chelsea who drew 2-2 against Burnley on Monday night, April 22.
