President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to unveil the new aircraft to be added to the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) during the activities lined up for the 2019 NAF day celebrations tagged NAF@55.
The chairman of the NAF day celebrations, Air Commodore Nnamdi Ananaba, disclosed this on Tuesday, April 23, during a special press conference to mark the beginning the NAF@55 activities.
The theme of the event is “Building Capability for Defence of Nigeria’s Air Space while Responding to National Security Imperatives”.
In the press release obtained by Legit.ng, some of the activities will be the ceremonial parade and Order of Battle (ORBAT) fly-past at the Eagle Square Abuja.
The statement partly read: "The highlight of the celebrations will be the ceremonial parade and Order of Battle (ORBAT) flypast at the Eagle Square. This promises to be a thrilling event. It would involve a march past and silent drill by personnel of the 6 NAF Commands, as well as a capability display by NAF special forces and NAF K-9 Unit.
"Additionally, the various aircraft in the NAF inventory will flypast to salute the Guest of Honour (GOH) and the Nigerian people. Thereafter, the latest aircraft to be acquired by this administration will be unveiled by the GOH. His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari , president, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic (GCFR) of Nigeria, is the reviewing officer and GOH."
He added that after the various activities for the ceremony, Buhari will then unveil the new aircraft bought by NAF.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that NAF took delivery of two Agusta 109 Power attack helicopters in the bid to combat terrorism in the country.
NAF disclosed the news on its twitter page on Monday, April 22, adding that the force authorities in Yola also celebrated Easter with the frontline troops in Yola, the capital of Adamawa state.

The celebration was led by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on Monday, April 22.
CAS Abubakar also said that NAF, with the support of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly would continue to get new platforms and build human capacity in its war against insurgency in the nation.
