- Arsenal suffered a major blow in their quest for a top four finish after their 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace
- The embarrassing loss at Emirates Stadium saw Arsenal miss an opportunity to go third on the standings
- Shkodran Mustafi was blamed for the defeat after staging a lackluster performance
Arsenal fans have taken a step further to show their disappointment with Shkodran Mustafi's performance in the Gunners' 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday, April 21.
Two goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil were not enough to rescue Arsenal from an embarrassing defeat as the Eagles marched to a comfortable victory.
Mustafi was at fault for two goals scored by the visitors even as fans took to social media to criticise the German defender.
Some of the fans called for the benching of Mustafi to eternity, while others urged the club to find a potential suitor for the centre-back in the summer.
However, others have gone to extreme lengths of demanding for the life imprisonment for Mustafi.
Up to 600 fans have now signed a petition that has since been set up by an Arsenal supporter on Change.Org, calling for the defender to be put behind bars for his knack of defensive errors.
"A man by the name of Shkodran Mustafi has been fooling a football club into paying him over £90,000 for broadcasting very disturbing content hidden in football matches," the petition's description reads.
"He is single-handedly responsible for millions of dollars of broken appliances like televisions and mobile devices, and there have been some cases of suicides related to him. There MUST be an investigation into the matter. I have been affected massively by this fiasco, and I really couldn't find any other solution," the petition continues.
Be that as it may, Arsenal boss, Unai Emery, has expressed absolute support for Mustafi, arguing he has been "consistent" this season.
The 27 year-old signed for the Emirates outfit under Arsene Wenger for a reported fee of £35 million.
He arrived from La Liga side, Valencia, in 2016.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Arsenal's top four ambition suffered a setback following their disappointing 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, April 21.
The visitors did not waste too much of their time before taking the lead as Christian Benteke headed the away team in front in the 17th minute.
Benteke, 28, found himself at the right place to connect with Luka Milivojevic's long range free kick directed into the Gunners danger zone.
Having conceded first, the north London sides tried all they could to ensure they get back into the game but all their efforts failed to produce something tangible for the hosts.
