Not fewer than 10 people were reportedly killed on Sunday, April 21 evening after unknown gunmen attacked Yar Center, Sherere village in Kankara local government area.
Daily Trust writes that residents reported seeing the gunmen arriving on motorcycles shortly before opening fire on villagers.
Not done, the attackers went on to set people's shops and vehicles on fire.
The national daily quoted a community leader Dikko Sherere as saying on phone: “We can’t even to go out and hold the burial rites of the deceased for fear of the bandits,” adding that “as at yesterday evening, seven corpses were recovered but by this morning, the dead had risen to 10.”
“The graves are yet to be dug as people are running for their lives, please help us, we are in grave danger."
The leader said the community was currently working hard to protect their women and children.
“As I’m talking to you, people are busy relocating women and children on foot to areas perceived to be safe, we are under attack.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that despite Nigerian military's actions against bandits ravaging Zamfara communities, the criminal elements have declared that airstrikes by the military cannot kill them because they get information ahead of attack against them.

According to the report, the disclosure was made in a a tape recording the conversation of a bandit (yet to be identified) with an emir in Zamfara, which was obtained by the media.
During the phone conversation, the bandit declared that bloodshed would continue as long as the Nigerian government continues to send in more troops to the state.
