PSG vs Monaco: Kylian Mbappe nets hat-trick as Les Parisiens emerge Ligue 1 champions

Paris Saint-Germain were crowned French Ligue 1 champions on Sunday night, April 21 after second-placed Lille battled to a goalless draw away to Toulouse.

The result sees Les Parisiens officially defend their title after with the return of Neymar in the Monaco 3-1 at the Parc des Princes, with Kylian Mbappe netting a hat-trick before Aleksandr Golovin scored a consolation for the away side in the dying moments of the game.

Neymar was in action for the first time after playing the entire second half since cropping a metatarsal injury against Strasbourg in the Coupe de France early in the year.

Despite the return of the Selecao captain, the French World Cup winner ensured he featured prominently in the game, with a top class display against his former employers.

The 20-year-old scored Mbappe scored a brace in the first half, showing tremendous pace and close control as he got at the end of a pass for Moussa Diaby to net PSG opener after 15 minutes.

Seven minutes later, Mbappe raced past Monaco defenders with his pace, before executing a precise finish net his second goal on the night.

And 10 minute after the break, Mbappe completed his hat-trick, thanks to another assists from Alves, as PSG went on to win 3-1 at the blast of the final whistle.

Interestingly, Neymar’s return provided a big entertainment for the fans with his slick touches and deft passes as a reminder of qualities.

However, PSG did not win the title in style as expected after defeats to Nantes and Lille, along with a draw against Strasbourg ahead of the victory over Monaco.
