Cardiff City suffered a 0-2 defeat in the hand of Liverpool at Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday, April 21, in a tough Premier League clash.

The match saw the Jurgen Klopp tutored-side miss a golden chance to net the opening goal after 22 minutes, with Brazilian star Roberto Firmino blasting his effort over the crossbar from inside six-yards.

In the 33rd minute, Liverpool had another chance to score through Mohamed Salah, but the Egyptian star was not able to beat Cardiff defence line.

With few minutes to the break, Reds shot-stopper Alisson Becker was at his best to keep Oumar Niasse's volley from netting to see both teams go into the break even.

Ten minutes after the restart, Liverpool opened the scores through Georginio Wijnaldum, who smashed home a decent cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner-kick.

Despite going down, Cardiff were troubling Liverpool on the counter with the likes of Junior Hoilett and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, but they did not have clear-cut chances to net

With 15 minutes remaining as Fabinho was forced with an injury after a clash of heads and was replaced by James Milner.

And in the 81st minute Salah won a penalty and the veteran Milner stepped forward to net Liverpool’s second goal as the away side held on to claim the vital win.

The result moves the Reds two points clear of City, who face Manchester United in their outstanding on Wednesday, April 24.
