- PDP spokesman Ologbondiyan urged the APC to accept defeat in the race for Osun governorship seat and stay away from any mischief because it would fail
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised the alarm over alleged plots "to discredit and smear Osun State Governor-Elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke".
A press statement by the party's spokesman Kola Ologbondiyan accused the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of "weaving a new set of fabrications and allegations".
The PDP claimed that after the ruling party failed to brand Senator Adeleke’s school certificate as fake, the party's leaders are "now knitting a very ludicrous allegation that the School Testimonial of the Osun Governor-Elect was forged, with a view to smearing his image in the eyes of the unsuspecting public".
The opposition party claimed it had information on how "the APC used a former commissioner in the state to reach out to certain top security officers to use the fabrications to arrest and embarrass Senator Adeleke and the Principal of his School, Ede Muslim High School, Ede, Mr. Kadili Adejare Abass".
The party also accused the APC of plans to hack into the files of the school in order to change the records and implicate Senator Adeleke.
"The PDP has intelligence of attempts by agents of the APC to hack into the school files to mutilate relevant academic documents, just to get at Senator Adeleke, not minding the harm such would cause other students of the school."
The PDP also urged the APC to accept defeat in the Osun Governorship election and avoid mischief against Senator Adeleke because it would fail.
The party also charges Nigerians, particularly the people of Osun, to continue to be at alert in resisting the noxious schemes of the APC against their will as a people.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng ran a fact-check on claims that the Independent National Electoral Commission has issued Certificate of Return to Senator Adeleke, the PDP’s candidate in the 2018 governorship election in Osun state – days after tribunal declared him (Adeleke) as the winner of the poll, sacking APC’s Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
The election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja, on Friday, March 22, nullified the election of Oyetola and declared Adeleke winner of the 2018 governorship election.
