Anthony Joshua to get new opponent next week after Jarrell Miller fails second test

- Anthony Joshua will no longer fight Jarrell Miller on June 1 in his US debut

- Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed a new opponent will be named next week

- He insists Miller failing a second test for banned substance is 'disgusting'

Anthony Joshua will fight a new opponent on June 1 after America’s Jarrell Miller was sent packing after returning positive in a second test for a banned substance, says Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn.

According to the BBC, Miller was previously denied a license to fight on June 1 after failing the first test from an earlier sample taken on March 20.

Hearn revealed Miller had "failed a second separate test for a further substance,” even as he disclosed that a new opponent will be announced next week to face Joshua, who currently holds the British IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight belts.

Before undergoing the second test the 30-year-old Miller claimed he was clean and had "done nothing wrong".

"The facts will prevail and I shall be vindicated," Miller stressed on Thursday, April 18.

"My team and I stand for integrity, decency and honesty and we will fight this with everything we have."

Hearn noted he was briefed of Miller's second failure for banned substance by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, which regulates boxing and mixed martial arts.

Among the boxers those in contention to fight Joshua in place of Miller are Cuba's Luis Ortiz, Poland's Adam Kownacki and American Michael Hunter.

"It feels like we need an American fighter or someone that the American market is also familiar with," Hearn was previously quoted as saying to BBC Sport.

"Ultimately we want someone from the top 15 that's going to put up a great fight, who is going to come to win. That's the most important thing. I don't want someone who wants to take a payday on 1 June, I want someone who wants to come and rip the world heavyweight title from Joshua."

Interestingly, the 29-year-old Joshua is undefeated in 22 fights and unified three world heavyweight divisions, after seeing off Wladimir Klitschko in 2017.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Anthony Joshua's fight against Jarrell Miller in June 2019 is now in serious doubt after the American tested positive to a banned substance ahead of the big clash.

Joshua is due to put his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight belts on the line against the 30-year-old American, but the fight may now be cancelled.

This is because Jarrell Miller was tested positive to bad substance ahead of the fight according to the latest report on UK Mirror.
