- Olivier Giroud wants more playing time at Chelsea for him to stay next season
- He joined Chelsea from Arsenal last year January and his deal will expire this summer
- Giroud is said to be wanted by Barcelona when the ongoing season in Europe comes to an end
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has reportedly made it clear that he is not happy playing second fiddle at Stamford Bridge and wants something to be done for him to stay next season.
Olivier Giroud joined Chelsea from Arsenal in January 2018 and the World Cup winner will be out of contract at the London based club this summer.
The France international has started just seven Premier League games this season and he has admitted to being unhappy with his current role on several occasions.
His goal against Slavia Prague makes him current club’s first player to score 10 or more goals within a single season of European competition.
“Trust me, I am very frustrated when I am not on the pitch, but I don’t want to show it.
“You need to keep that frustration and transform it into positive energy. Trust me, I’m not happy to play the second role.
“Next year I will need to have a more important role to play. The most important thing for me is to be happy on the pitch, to enjoy the game and to have more minutes,'' Giroud explained according to Squawka.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are expected to have talks with Giroud for him to stay at the club because of their current two years ban to register new players.
