Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has been named Champions League Player of the Week for his brace against Man United at Camp Nou.
The Argentine scored two first half goals with Coutinho adding a third as Barcelona walloped Man United 3-0 (4-0 on aggregate) to book a place in the semifinals of the Champions League.
Lionel Messi has scored 45 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions this season for Barcelona. The 31-year-old has also registered 21 assists in all competitions.
Messi beat the trio of Son Heung-min of Tottenham, Roberto Firmino of Liverpool and Matthijs de Ligt of Ajax to pick up the top prize.
Aside Messi, the remaining three nominees for Champions League Player of the Week found the back of the net as their respective teams book their places in the semifinals of the competition.
Son Heung-min scored a brace for Tottenham in his team's 4-3 loss to Man City at the Etihad stadium but they progressed to the next stage on away goal rule after winning the first leg 1-0.
On his part, Firmino was on the score-sheet as Liverpool won 4-1 against Porto and did a double against the Portuguese club. They qualified 6-1 on aggregate after winning the first leg 2-0.
Meanwhile, Ajax teenage captain Matthijs de Ligt spearheaded a comeback in Turin as he grabbed the winning goal in his side's 2-1 win against Juventus to qualify 3-2 on aggregate and book a place in the semis.
The Champions League semi-final dates have been set with the first legs coming up on April 30 and May 1
Tottenham welcome Ajax to their new stadium on April 30 while Barcelona play host to Liverpool at the Camp Nou on May 1.
The second leg comes up on May 7 with Liverpool welcoming Barcelona to Anfield while Ajax play host to Tottenham on May 8.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Champions League Player of the Week nominees have been shortlisted and they include Lionel Messi, Heung-Min Son, Roberto Firmino and Matthijs de Ligt.
All four players represent their clubs that made it through to the semi finals including Barcelona, Liverpool, Tottenham and Ajax.
