It is believed that Chelsea were demanding £170m-plus for Hazard last summer but Real Madrid failed to meet the club’s demands.

However, discussions between the Blues and Real Madrid have blossomed overtime, this is evident in the loan move of Mateo Kovacic.

That relationship has also enabled Real Madrid to talk Chelsea down to a fee in the region of £86m for Hazard who has just one year remaining on his contract.
