Omoni Oboli criticizes Nigerians who attack celebrities for speaking on topical national issues

A popular Nigerian actress has used her social media platform to address citizens of the country who are usually riled up whenever celebrities speak up on societal issues.

The actress identified as Omoni Oboli, is well known for using her social media platform to speak up for good and share her opinions about happenings in the country.

In a new post shared on her Instagram page, the Nollywood star criticized fellow Nigerians who have made it a habit to attack public figures in the entertainment scene, who bare their opinions on topical national issues in the society.

According to Oboli, she does not hold such figures accountable when they decide to keep mute, since often times than never; their contributions are usually received with heavy backlash.

"I do not blame celebs and public figures when they keep quiet about the issues that affect us all because the backlash lash is always so much. It makes no sense at all." she said.

She went on to add that the irony of the matter lies in the fact that it is the common citizens that often bear the brunt of these issues, yet, they are the ones who attack people that speak up on their behalf.

Oboli said: "Most of these issues let us be honest, affect the common man the most but they are the ones that will insult your family if you dare speak up!"
