- Diego Costa has refused to train with Atletico Madrid teammates as the club plan to hand the Spaniard internal punishment
- The ex-Chelsea forward was handed an eight-match ban earlier this month and will not play again this campaign
- Reports claim club boss Diego Simeone is already losing patience with the forward
Ex-Chelsea star Diego Costa could leave Atletico Madrid this summer after refusing to train with his teammates.
According to the Mirror citing AS report, Costa has refused to take part in the club’s training after he was informed that he will be facing internal punishment from Atletico for the sending off at Nou Camp
Costa will not defend Atletico Madrid’s colours again this campaign after he was hammered with eight-game ban, no thanks to his comments to the match referee during their recent defeat to Barcelona.
The referee Gil Manzano in his match report stressed that Costa twice said to him "I s*** on you w**** mother" with video evidence against the striker.
The forward Costa was at Atletico Madrid’s training ground on Thursday, April 18, but ignored calls to join others in training despite not injured.
A further breakdown of Costa’s suspension revealed he was handed the ban for two separate offences – preventing Manzano from booking his teammates and before abusing him.
Meanwhile, Costa's continued stay at the Spanish club was uncertain before the incident, with club boss opting for Alvaro Morata since his arrival from Chelsea in January.
