Nigerian Catholic faithful hold fervent prayers for member who was killed and molested by a gang

- A Catholic Church in Enugu has held a 7-day prayer session for a deceased member

- The member had reportedly been molested by a gang and strangled to death

- Ngozi Eze was said to have been attacked on her way to her JAMB lesson

A Catholic Church has completed a seven-day prayer session to mourn the loss of a member identified as Ngozi Eze. The young girl had reportedly been killed after she was molested by a gang in Enugu.

It was gathered that the tragic incident occurred at Imufu, Enugu Ezike, Igbo Eze North local government area of the state.

Eze was discovered dead on Tuesday, March 27, after her body was found in a bush at the boundary between Imufu and Ogrute. Reports say she was first molested by a gang before she was strangled to death.

According to Vanguard, the church completed the one week mourning prayers for the deceased young girl with a Rosary procession. It was said that the procession started from where her dead body was found.

The procession was led by the parish priest and his assistant. They prayed that God forgive Eze of all her sins, and also asked God to intervene in the arrest of the culprits who committed the crime.

It was gathered that Eze had gone to school for private lessons on Monday, March 26, to prepare for the on-going Joint Admissions Matriculation Board exams, when the tragedy occurred.

Eze did not return home from lesson and her body was later found by passersby on the next day.

As the news of the young girl's death spread around the town, over two thousand women stood up to fight for her justice. They all dressed in black attires and demonstrated along major roads in Enugu.

The women also listed the killings of people in the community as reason for their demonstration.
