- David De Gea has been trolled by football fans after conceding two goals against Lionel Messi

- But De Gea failed as Lionel Messi netted a brace in Barcelona's 3-0 win over Man United

David De Gea of Manchester United has been trolled by fans for conceding two goals against Lionel Messi in the Champions League despite his preparation for the clash.

Manchester United crashed out of the 2018/19 Champions League after losing 3-0 against Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night, April 16.

The Red Devils' goalie David De Gea fumbled the ball into his own net helping the Argentine scored his second goal before Philippe Coutinho netted the winner.

And before the clash, one of the tricks the Red Devils used was a special training regime for De Gea specifically concentrated on stopping Messi.

United goalkeeping coach Emiliano Alvarez told Cadena Ser radio ahead of the clash: "We do some things different. I wouldn't lie if I said we do a super special preparation.

"I can't deny that there is a particularity regarding Leo Messi in which in the end, you try to offer tools and data to the keeper so that it can help him,''.

But all the efforts failed to help David De Gea at Camp Nou and he made a gaffe which gifted Lionel Messi his second goal and fans have taken to social media to mock the Spaniard.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Barcelona made it to the semifinal stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2014-15 season after beating Manchester United 3-0 at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night, April 16.

The Catalans came into the fixture with a goal advantage from the first leg at Old Trafford barely one week ago with Luke Shaw scoring an own goal.

However, it was the Red Devils who got the game off to a flying start in Spain with Marcus Rashford firing the first shot, but his effort was denied by the wood works after just forty seconds into the match.
