9th National Assembly: No PDP member will get any committee - Oshiomhole vows

- Adams Oshiomhole says no PDP member in the National Assembly should be given any committee

- Oshiomhole insists that if Nigerians wanted the PDP, they would have voted for the party's candidates

- The APC national chairman argues that in the days of the PDP, all committees of the National Assembly were chaired by its members

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, vowed late Tuesday, April 16, that no member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would get a committee in the ninth National Assembly.

Oshiomhole said this while making his remarks at the dinner hosted by President Muhammadu Buhari for the House of Representatives members-elect at the Old Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Oshiomhole, who boasted of the huge number of members of the National Assembly on the platform of the APC, if Nigerians wanted the PDP, they could have voted the opposition party’s candidates during the last elections.

“In the days of PDP, every committee were chaired by PDP members,” Oshiomhole said.

The APC national chairman described the present leadership of the National Assembly as selfish and greedy.

“We do not need to do business with the devil for us to survive in the ninth Assembly.

“In African family, we sit down in a closed door to address issues, the good news is that there is a role for everyone.

“Neither Mr President nor the party expects the National Assembly to be rubber stamps, we don’t have rubbers…But we will not fight in Wuse market,” he said.

According to him, both the re-elected and new members of the National Assembly on the platform of the APC are entitled to heading committees.

“We have asked our people not to share what belongs to us with other party members.

“I don’t have apologies against forces of retrogression,” he said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that a former minister of sport, Bala Ka’oje, recently faulted the endorsement of certain individuals for leadership positions by the ruling APC ahead of the inauguration of the ninth National Assembly.

The APC chieftain stated that the ruling party ought to have zoned the positions to regions and not to individuals.

He warned the national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, that he can appoint leaders of the National Assembly.
