- Barce have now reached their first semifinal since the 2014-15 season and they will hope to win the title
Barcelona are through to the semifinal stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2014-15 season after beating Manchester United 3-0 at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night, April 16.
The Catalans came into the fixture with a goal advantage from the first leg at Old Trafford barely one week ago with Luke Shaw scoring an own goal.
However, it was the Red Devils who got the game off to a flying start in Spain with Marcus Rashford firing the first shot, but his effort was denied by the wood works after just forty seconds into the match.
The visitors continued to make advances at the weak back line of their hosts, and once again the Premier League team failed to bury the chance they created.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men narrowly escape being punished through a penalty kick after Fred threw a careless tackle on Ivan Rakitic in the 11th minute.
But the referee had to consult the VAR before overturning the earlier penalty call he made earlier in the game.
Meanwhile, it took Lionel Messi 16 minutes to find the back of the net after which his weak shot slipped under David De Gea's arms for his second goal.
For the first goal, Messi picked up a loose ball from Ashley Young before cutting in from the right flank and powered a curly shot into the left side of De Gea's pole in the 16th minute.
Both teams were however unable to score any more goals in the first half with German referee Felix Brych sounding the whistle for half time.
Both sides returned to the pitch for the remainder of the meeting as the visitors hope to overturn the two goals deficit with just 45 minutes left to play.
Philippe Coutinho compounded United's woes after netting his first goal of the game with his signature goal as the home team go three goals up in the 60th minute.
After the Brazilian's superb curly long range shot, it was clear that Solskjaer's men needed a miracle to stage a comeback in the meeting.
United boss brought in Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku in the second half but both stars were unable to stop their side from crashing out of the European tourney at the last eight stage.
And the referee blew the final whistle at the Camp Nou with Barcelona cruising to the next stage on 4-0 aggregate.

The Catalans took the lead through an own goal from Luke Shaw who deflected Luis Suarez's header into his side's net in the 12 minute.
And they head into the second leg on home turf with a goal advantage while they count of their fans to cheer them to victory in one week's time.
