Zidane urged Real Madrid stars to step up their game in their remaining matches while speaking during his post-match press conference.

"I as the coach and they as the players have to try," Zidane said.

"We have to try and perform better because it's our duty.

"We didn't have a good first half, but improved after the break.

"We all have to give a bit more,” the Frenchman added, even as he took out time to applaud Karim Benzema, who is Real Madrid's top scorer this term, netting seven times in Lo Blanco last six league matches.

"Benzema is having a very good season, particularly as far as goals are concerned.

"He's a fantastic player and this season he's scoring far more goals. I'm delighted for him.

"He's used to rumours, but that won't change anything for him. He's shown his character and he's doing a good job for the team,” Zidane summed up.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Karim Benzema saved Real Madrid from the jaws of defeat with his 18th goal of the campaign as they battled Leganes to a 1-1 draw in a tough LaLiga on Monday, April 15, at Estadio Municipal de Butarque.

The encounter saw Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo return to Leganes starting XI after recovering from a muscle injury.

At the other end, Gareth Bale started from the bench after poor run of form, with the pair of Thibaut Courtois and Toni Kroos missing from the matchday squad.
