State House rewards 10 employees for outstanding performance

- Ten members of staff of the SERVICOM unit of the State House have been rewarded for outstanding performance in 2018

- The staff were recongnised for their great work in catering, library, store management, and administration

- The recipient of the awards also got plaques and undisclosed cash prizes as incentives for their work

The Service Compact with All Nigerians (SERVICOM) unit of state House on Thursday, April 11, in Abuja organised an award ceremony to reward 10 members of its staff for excellent performance in the year 2018. gathers from the press release obtained from the presidency that the employees were recognised for the great work in areas like administration, stores management, catering, library, transportation and medical departments.

An undisclosed amount of money was also given to the recipient of the awards by the Jala Arabu, the permanent secretary at the state house.

A part of the press released read: "Yashim Nuhu, a senior motor driver mechanic II on Grade Level 5 in the Transport department got the Outstanding Driver award.

"Nuhu, who has put in a total of 8 years in State House, is very popular for his cordiality and enviable sense of dedication to duty among staff and journalists covering the seat of power.

"Another recipient, Mr Gwaza Habila, a Principal Catering Officer on Grade Level 12, has put in 19 years and catered for prominent State guests, including Her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of England during a State Visit in 2003.

"Habila was given the Outstanding Catering Staff’ Award and was praised for his ‘hardwork and effectiveness at Presidential functions as well as imparting knowledge to his subordinates.

"One of the two female recipients, Mrs Margaret Arigu, a Principal Executive Officer II, in the State House Medical Center, was decorated with ‘Outstanding Medical Registry Staff.

"Arigu who has served for 23 years in the state House Clinic, all in the Medical Centre, received encomiums for being ‘very professional, courteous, respectful to staff and clients alike."

Other people who got awarded were Ogba Ukpabi (Evergreen Outstanding Contributor to SERVICOM Unit), Olutayo Fasipe (Outstanding SERVICOM Departmental Representative), Mr Abubakar Wambai (Outstanding Stores Staff), Rilwan Badega (Outstanding Library Staff), Mr Mohammed Abdulkarim (Outstanding Finance and Accounts Staff), Mr Samuel Arigu (Outstanding Registry Staff), and Christiana Kontekopo (Outstanding Staff Canteen Staff).

Nnenna Akajemeli, the national coordinator of SERVICOM informed the workers that the benefits of the award is to serve as incentives to increase the workers' level of performance.

Meanwhile, earlier reported that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) expressed concern over President Muhammadu Buhari’s delay in signing the national minimum wage bill.

The NLC general secretary, Peter Ozon-Eson, said the delay has affected the union’s movement, saying the labour is bothered that it has taken the president this long. ( -> We have upgraded to serve you better.
