There is no presence of security operatives in Zamfara state’s rural communities, the Emir of Anka and the chairman Zamfara State Council of Chiefs Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad said on Wednesday, April 10.
Ahmad who spoke at a town hall meeting with acting Inspector General of Police Muhammed Adamu and other stakeholders on approaches to end armed banditry and kidnapping in the state
He said the problems in Zamfara state started as mere local animal thefts but gradually transformed into organized crimes.
Ahmad noted that there was no security presence in all the areas armed bandits are operating in the state.
He also said that the police could only be found in local government headquarters and that no council in the whole of Zamfara state could boast of up to 150 police personnel.
The Emir said: “This is about 7th time we are holding similar meetings in this state. We hope the next meeting is for us to celebrate the return of peace in the state."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Alhaji Abubakar Bwari, Nigeria’s minister of state, mines and steel development, has urged mining investors in Zamfara to obey the federal government’s directive to vacate mining sites in the state.
Bwari gave the advice on Monday, April 8 while speaking on the sideline of the groundbreaking ceremony of AG Vision Mining Site in Suleja, Niger.
