- Jose Mourinho is backing Manchester United to beat Barcelona in the UCL quarter-final clash
- The ex-United boss also warned the Red Devils concerning Lionel Messi
'- United previously defeated Juventus and PSG in earlier rounds of the competition
Jose Mourinho believes Manchester United can beat Barcelona in the Champions League after posting positive result against the pair of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in the early rounds of Europe’s biggest club competition.
However, Mourinho was still in charge at Old Trafford when the Red Devils defeated Juven away from home during the group stages, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in the dugout during the win over PSG in last-16.
The Mirror quoting RT report, revealed that Mourinho has warned Man United that playing at Old Trafford could see the Argentine at his best on Wednesday, April 10 in the quarter-final tie.
"United this season was capable to win against Juventus and against PSG why not to do it against Barcelona?" Mourinho told RT, for whom he's been working as a pundit since leaving the EPL giants in December.
"But Barca will be aware of that, will respect United and Old Trafford and Messi will want to leave his footprint in a mythical stadium."
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson is confident Chris Smalling can stop Lionel Messi from punishing the Premier League side in their Champions League quarter-final clash.
The Red Devils welcome Barcelona to Old Trafford on Wednesday, April 10, for the first leg of their UCL last eight fixtures, with the concluding part set for the Camp Nou next week in Spain.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men will have the Blaugrana's captain to deal with, having punished them in their last two competitive encounters in 2009 and 2011.
