Lionel Messi and his Barcelona teammates rounded off preparations in high spirit ahead of their Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash against Man United at Old Trafford.

According to Daily Mail, the two top clubs are eager to take the lead, ahead of the reverse fixture at Nou Camp on April 16.

Barcelona are yet to win another UCL since 2015, while United are still left with their three titles after failing to lift Europe's biggest club silverware since 2008.

The La Liga champions are now 11 points clear at the summit of the log and are closing in on back-to-back title after seeing off Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

Barca progressed to the quarterfinal after emerging from a group that featured PSV, Inter Milan and Tottenham to make the last-16 round, where they bashed Lyon 5-1 to reach the quarterfinal.

On the other hand, Man United emerged second best in Group H, along Juventus, with Valencia and Young Boys eliminated.

Despite 2-0 defeat at OId Trafford by Paris Saint-Germain in the last- 16 first leg, boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer guided the Red Devils to the quarter-final stage.

“I expect a game where we have the ball and they will try and hit us on the counter-attack with fast strong players like (Marcus) Rashford and (Romelu) Lukaku. We have to be on our guard and look out for set-pieces from corners into the box.

“They are an English side and they will try to take advantage of these opportunities. If we are focused we can try and stop them.

“Manchester United since from I was here have always been the biggest team in England. All the big sides go through good times and bad times and there are periods of transition.

The period of Sir Alex Ferguson was the best one and they'll continue to be a big side. We hope during this period maybe they've not found that special ingredient to bring it back but let's see,”
