The outgoing governor of Kwara, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has constituted a 24-man transition committee that will liaise with the incoming All Progressives Congress (APC) government ahead of May 29 when his tenure will come to an end.
Speaking at the inauguration of the committee, the governor expressed his willingness to hand over the state government affairs to Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of the APC, Vanguard reports.
Legit.ng gathers that the governor reeled out his achievements over the last two term, adding that he was happy dropping the mantle of power as a fulfilled man.
He said: "As you are aware, most of the eight years of our administration were marked by challenges in the national economy. Nevertheless, we leveraged our resourcefulness to modestly fulfill our pledge to uplift our people and our state while laying a solid foundation for its current and future sustenance.
“Indeed, I make bold to state that we are leaving Kwara state better than we met it as we are bequeathing to it a legacy of service, peace and good governance."
AbdulFatah, who charged the committee on peaceful synergy with representatives of the incoming governor, called for the solid footing for the new administration.
He said he would be remembered for leaving facilitating growth and development to the north central state, adding that he would leave the state than he met it.

Addressing the committee, the governor said: "Ensure full liaison with all officially assigned representatives of the incoming administration for the appropriate briefing on the activities of government towards providing a solid footing for the new government. Any other matter the committee may find worthy for the effective discharge of its mandate."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Ahmed congratulated the governor-elect, Abdulrahman after he was declared the winner of the governorship election held on Saturday, March 9.
Ahmed declared that Abdulrasak’s emergence is a manifestation of Kwarans’ resolve to give democracy a chance and allow another leadership to serve them.
