One of the wealthiest man in the world, and the richest in Africa, Aliko Dangote, recently clocked a new age of 62. In commemoration of the Nigerian business mogul, we cannot help but notice that there are so many Nigerians, including celebrities that wish to be like him, especially as expressed in the lyrics of their songs.
The art of praising well known and popular figures is definitely not something that just got into the Nigerian music space, in fact, it goes way back in time to the days of high life music maestros like Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Ayinla Kollington, Wasiu Ayinde and a host of others.
Modern day singers have drawn inspiration from their predecessors and that is why you will find a sensational singer like Burna Boy for example, naming a complete music single after a well to do personality in the country.
Of course, many people only want to be affiliated with individuals that have proven over time to be successful and wealthy, which is why so many of our talented musicians wiggle their way around their song writing process until someone like Dangote finds a convenient spot in their string of lyrics.

Here are five Nigerian singers that have sang about Dangote in their songs.
The singer comfortably occupies the top spot of this list because of his relatively recent hit single Dangote, which was named after the Nigerian billionaire. In the song, the artist sings about how the business mogul’s drive for more wealth and success is enough motivation for him to also keep on hustling. He sings thus:
Dangote still dey find money o
I no dey, I no dey
I no dey sleep on the money o
Who I be?
Wey make I no go find money o"

2. Reekado Banks
Although not a lot of people know this, but former Mavin records act Reekado Banks, also named a song after the billionaire in his 2016 debut album titled Spotlight. It follows a similar plot of Burna’s Boy single, in which a narrative of hustling and striving to achieve the level of success of the cement mogul, is presented.
Reekado sings thus:
"We dey hustle everyday
E don tey whe we don dey pray
Anything dem like let them say
We go make am like dangote"
Yet another Nigerian artiste that named his single after the African billionaire in a 2018 music single is a singer identified as Zanottii. The song follows the over flogged narrative of success, hustle and trying to attain the level of the mogul. Zanotti sings thus:
"Shower your blessings o,
shower your blessings o,
everyday make money long like Dangote o"
Taking the fourth spot on this list is much loved singer Teniola Apata also popularly known as Teni Makanaki. The female songbird released a single in the last quarter of 2018 titled Case, and one of the most worded part of the song is when she sings about the wealthy Nigerian. She sings thus:
"For your case oooo elele le,
for your case oo ho huh ho no
'Cause my papa no be Dangote or Adeleke but we go dey ok yea yea"
5. Adekunle Gold
Singer Adekunle Gold also makes the list of Nigerian artistes that have worded their song lyrics to accommodate the name of the wealthy businessman. In his 2015 single Pick Up, he sings about the almighty blessing him with riches the same way he has blessed Dangote, as the businessman does not have two heads. He sings thus:
"baba god ooo
emi na fe wa range ooo
dangote o lori meji
na beg i dey beg ooo"
We wish the billionaire many happy returns.
