Midfield duo of Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic could miss Manchester United's quarter finals tie against Barcelona in the Champions League.

The Red Devils are set to host the La Liga giants at Old Trafford in the first leg of the European showpiece on Wednesday, April 10.

United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is however facing a major squad selection headache owing to the absence of the two midfielders.

The two were not part of United's entourage that met up at their team hotel on Tuesday night, April 9.

Both Herrera and Matic have played an integral role in Solskjaer's success at Old Trafford, having formed a formidable partnership in the midfield alongside Paul Pogba.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old James Garner has been included in the initial squad, but Solskjaer could start Brazilian Fred and Scott McTominay who were impressive during United's 3-1 remarkable victory against Paris Saint-Germain in March.

Marcus Rashford is in contention for a starting role after missing his side's 2-1 defeat to Wolves with an ankle injury.

The Englishman could be linked up with Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial upfront to lead the Red Devils' attack-line.
