Lionel Scaloni has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car while riding his bike in Spain on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.

The Argentine national team boss was riding his bicycle on the Balearic Island when he got hit behind as he landed awkwardly before hitting his head against a pavement. The accident left him lying in the car park of a school in pains.

Police reported that the accident occurred when the driver failed to notice the former West Ham star while reversing just outside the school.

The 40-year-old was rushed a university hospital near Palma, the Mallorcan capital, and is currently being treated for brain trauma and other minor injuries.

Spanish news media outlet El Mundo Deportivo, the former right-back's condition is between mild and moderate.

The Argentinian is currently based in Mallorca having fallen in love with the island during a loan spell towards the end of his career.

Scaloni keeps a close eye on the majority of his playing squad while, including the likes of Lionel Messi, Eva Banega and Sergio Aguero.

He was named Argentina boss last August after Jorge Sampaoli quit following the country's disappointing World Cup campaign in Russia.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Lionel Messi's father Jorge was involved in a serious accident in Argentina as his BMW car hit a biker who was quickly rushed to the hospital.

The 24-year-man was left briefly unconscious after the collision at the crossroads in Messi's native home of Rosario.
