Senator Shehu Sani has berated some state governors in Nigeria who spend more time in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja than their states.
According to the senator representing Kaduna central senatorial district, the governors spend days in Abuja all in the name of meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
He made the allegation via social media on Monday, April 8, stressing that some of the governors' states are in flames while they stay back in the FCT.
“While their states are in flames, most of the Governors spent Mondays to Thursdays in Abuja in the name of meeting with Mr President. And on Fridays, praying with Mr President in the Villa mosques,” he tweeted.
Many Nigerian state governors have often been criticised for spending more time in the FCT that their states.
This is mostly applicable to northern state governors who come to the Nigerian capital almost every week
Meanwhile, governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly endorsed Senator Ahmad Lawan’s for the Senate presidency in the 9th National Assembly.
Lawan is the party and President Muhammadu Buhari’s choice for the job, but is facing stiff resistance from Senator Ali Ndume from Borno state.
It was gathered that upon endorsement of Lawan by the party, the president mandated members to “sell the qualities of the nominee to Nigerians, especially senators-elect.”
