Ronaldinho’s son Joao Mendes has penned his first training contract after he was successful at a trial with Cruzeiro.
According to the BBC report, the 14-year-old forward did not inform the club official he was Ronaldinho’s son as he wanted to earn a place with his talent.
"Although he was the son of Ronaldinho, Mendes performed a test in the club without the knowledge of kinship," the club said.
"With his own talent, the young attacker was approved and, only when he was already in the club, was eventually revealed the name of the famous father."
Reacting on the Joao Mendes arrival at the club, Amarildo Ribeiro, the director of grassroots football, explained further.
"He is a player that has a good physical size, a high technical quality.
"He is a player who can play both as an area player and as a second striker. He is a player who, even with the big size, has speed and finishes very well."
Interestingly, his 39-year-old father, Ronaldinho, during his active days was regarded as one of the most skillful player of all time, noted creativity, tricks and executions of deadly free-kicks.
He claimed the Ballon d'Or in 2005 after playing for the likes of Paris St-Germain, Barcelona and AC Milan close to two decades.
Meanwhile, Mendes deal at Cruzeiro will run until 2025, when he celebrates his 20th birthday anniversary.
"It is a dream that one day I can sign the professional contact with Cruzeiro, play professionally, make a goal in the crowded Mineirao and dedicate to the fans," he submitted.
