Police confirm kidnapping of Bayelsa council chairman`s father

- The kidnapping of Wellington Magbisa, father of the chairman of Sagbama local government area of the state by gunmen has been confirmed by the police

- The police command in the state, said the victim will be rescued and the captors will be arrested

- Butswat Asinim, spokesman of the command, said all the sister security agencies in the state had been asked to swing into action

The police command in Bayelsa has confirmed the kidnapping of Wellington Magbisa, father of the chairman of Sagbama local government area of the state by gunmen.

Butswat Asinim, spokesman of the command, made confirmation while addressing newsmen on Sunday in Yenagoa.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Asinim said the kidnappers gained entrance to the victim’s bedroom via an unprotected window and abducted him.

According to him, “Five men came in through an unprotected window, captured Magbisa and escaped through the waterways.''

He said that all the sister security agencies in the state had been alerted to rescue the victim and also arrest the captors.

Legit.ng previously reported Parts of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, were hit by protests on Saturday, April 6, over the alleged continued killings and abduction of residents in Zamfara state by armed bandits.

The protesters also accused the governor of the state, Abdulaziz Yari, of failing in his duties in the state. Under the aegis of Concern Citizens (CC), mostly made up of youth and women were said to have converged at the unity fountain with placards carrying various inscriptions and asking the president to end the killings and kidnappings.

They also asked President Buhari to end poverty, declare a state of emergency against insecurity and support the internally displaced persons.
