Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero remains doubtful for his side's Champions League quarterfinal clash against Tottenham Hotspur this week.

According to the team doctors, Aguero was said to have suffered a muscle strain, but it may be enough to keep him out of the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday night.

However, Pep Guardiola while providing update on the striker's injury after his side's FA Cup triumph said: "He is much much better. Still he didn’t train one single training session with us.

"Tomorrow in training we are going to see whether he will be able to play the next game or Crystal Palace.’ City travel to take on Palace in the Premier League next Sunday.

Meanwhile, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager said before the weekend's encounter that he would not be risking the current Premier League top scorer for the game.

"Sergio is going to play when he’s really, really fit,’ said Pep. ‘The doctors are going to tell me tomorrow if he’s a risk of being injured and after that whether it could be three or four weeks out.

Manchester City will battle Spurs three times this month with two of those fixtures coming from the Champions League quarterfinals.

According to Mirror, City boss Pep Guardiola is cautious not to risk the Argentine ahead of Tuesday’s massive tie against Tottenham.

Aguero was not listed in Man City’s 2-0 win over Cardiff midweek after suffering a muscular problem.
