Nigerians choose which they will respect more between local tradition or religion

Nigeria is one of the countries in West Africa and we pride ourselves with having a rich cultural and traditional background. However, when it comes to religion, a number of citizens frown at worshipping God the way our forefathers used to.

Religion is a very touchy subject in Nigeria and an average citizen does not joke with matters of God. The society is largely divided between either Muslims or Christians and this has made one wonder where that leaves traditional religion. organised a poll to get opinions from readers about which should be respected more between foreign religions and local tradition.

Interestingly, on the Twitter poll, 56% voted for foreign religion while 44% voted that local tradition should be respected more.

The same thing also obtained on Facebook. 64% of our readers voted that foreign religion should be respected more while 36% voted in support of local tradition.

One would be curious to know reasons for their choice and some of them took to the comment section to explain.

A few people are of the opinion that the two are not comparable and are totally different things.
