Wounded soldier accuses Nigerian Army of neglect, begs for help as he is too young to die

- A Nigerian soldier identified as Obi Peter Onuoha has cried out on Facebook about his deteriorating health condition

- Onuoha claims that he was injured in combat and shortly after, was involved in a car accident

- He stated that he has been abandoned by the Nigerian Army and is afraid to die

A Nigerian soldier identified as Obi Peter Onuoha has shared a rather disheartening post where he begged for help concerning his deteriorating health condition.

According to the distraught soldier, he was injured in combat in 2015 and claimed to have been shot by deadly terrorist group, Boko Haram. After being injured, he was sent to the hospital and was admitted till 2018.

He was invited by the army hospital director in Kaduna but on his way back, he was involved in an accident that almost claimed his life. Onuoha revealed that life has been difficult for him since then as he has been abandoned by the Nigerian Army that forced him to travel.

He however stated that some politicians and senior army officers have been supportive and have done their best for him but he is still in pains and still requires help.

Obi Peter also shared photos to show that he is indeed struggling to function as a healthy member of the society and he has pleaded with Nigerians to come to his aid.

Meanwhile, poor funding has remained a major challenge of the soldiers since the transition to civil rule in 1999, the Nigerian Army has said.

Speaking about the 2019 budget defence engagement with the house committee on Army, Buratai said the Army has budgeted N472.8 billion.

According to the Army chief, a large percentage of the budget would be used for counter-insurgency in the northeast and to tackle other forms of insecurity in the country.
