Luis Suarez added time goal helped Barcelona claim a point after battling Villarreal to a 4-4 draw in a thrilling La Liga showdown on Wednesday, April 2, at Estadio de la Cerámica.

The encounter saw Barcelona score twice within 17 minutes despite Ernesto Valverde starting Lionel Messi from the bench.

Strikes from the pair of Philippe Coutinho in the 12th minute and Malcom after 18 minutes looked to have put Barcelona on course for another victory.

But Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze pulled one goal back for Villarreal before the end of the first stanza.

And in the 50th minute mark Karl Toko Ekombi equalized for Villarreal.

Vicente Iborra put the Yellow Submarine ahead on the hour mark before Carlos Bacca’s goal in the 80th minute seem to have secured all three points.

However, the host suffered a setback as they were reduced to 10 men after Alvaro Gonzalez was sent off in the 89th minute, allowing Messi to net from the resultant free-kick to give Barca the believe of a comeback.

And with the time running out Luis Suarez netted the equalizer with a decent strike.

A performance that saw the scoreboard read Villarreal 4-4 Barcelona at the blast of the referee’s final whistle.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze has been crowned the best young player at the second edition of the Aiteo-NFF awards.

The 19-year-old beat Super Eagles teammates Victor Osimhen and Henry Onyekuru to the prestigious prize.

Chukwueze has been impressive for his Spanish League side scoring six goals and registering one assist across all competitions this season.
